Super Science Powerup Seminar

Tue. Jan 31, our math and science sophomore students took Super Science Power up Seminar during Math, Sceience and biology class. We have invited Professor XXXXXX from Yamaguchi University Agriculture Dept. Global Session in Shimane Univeristy (Day 1)

Our global session were held on Thursday July 27th in Shimane University.  This program begin last year. Our school is designated as Super Global School (SGH) from Ministry of Education. The students are in the research program and this global session is for last year of High School Students participated.  During 2nd Year of High School, they begin their research and as a closing of research, students prepare presentation in English and at Shimane University.  So the entire program is to deepening the study of research. Global Session in Shimane Univeristy (Day 2)

On Friday July 28th, Global Session in Shimane Univerisity for 2 days.  Today was the day to give presentation in English where students have been prepareing for a semester (2 hours every other week) on “Super Global Research”. Native English Professors and exchange students from Shimane Univeristy took time to listen to our students speech. Each group had 8 minutes of presentation and the audience (Professors and exchange students) asked many questions and it was the time for discussion. High School Jica Program (Organized by JICA Chugoku)

Our 2 students participated in High School Student JICA Program on Sat and Sun Jun 29&30 in HIgashi Hiroshima. There were 45 students participants  from Chugoku Regional High school.  On 1st day, there were former JICA staff talk and work shops were held to understand different culture.  At night time, they spend time with researchers from all over the world in Hiroshima International Plaza where we spent night in. On 2nd day, students were divided into groups and simulated where students were JICA member just got back from oversea project to Japan and how to develop and help oversea people living in Japanesen town. Volunteer Tour Guide at Izumo Oyashiro

Monday July 17th, 14 volunteers from 1st and 2nd graders gatherd in Izumo Oyashiro to guide exchange students in Shimane Univeristy. The exchange students are here in Japan for Summer Program and there are 7 from the USA and China.  The students explained history of Izumo Oyashiro and how to pray in teh sthrine etc in English and their gestures.  The students experienced the challenges and joy of communications in Elighs.  After the walking around the Izumo Oyashir, they all had lunch in Kanko Center, Izumo had great time chatting. Meeting with Deputy Mayor of Izumo

On Friday July 28th, 74 seniors students visited Izumo City Ofice to exchange opinions with Izumo City member on recreation of Izumo and made presentation to Deputy Mayor of Izumo Recreation of City, multi culture lifes, agricluture and environment, disaster difence and beautify Izumo city.  The students has been working on the project over the year and made their opinion. ・Beauty Social Worker for eldery people ・Music Attraction ・Muti Ethnic people work together ・Disaster Difence plan from name of local area Their ideas were for Izumo City as well as Shimane prefecture. After their presentation, Takehito Noguchi, Deputy Mayor gave us the feedback and he is looking forward for our students

Japan Science Council "Science Cafe"

Mon July 31, 12 student has met with Mr. Shigeo Kodama from University of Tokyo and discussed  ending of Center Test (testing system for High School student in Japan for entering to University) in 2020, voting age at 18 (It used to be 20 and it was lowered recently).  What should we do in Izumo. Mr. Kodama has explained the right of vote consisely and had simulated election  for city mayor.  Students were divided into groups and how to be elected over candidate who will be enforcing Multi culture union and opponent.  The students came up with unique opinion.  In addition, students asked many questions toward Mr. Kodama on Education and center

SSH Powerup Seminar

We held “Power Up Seminar” for 2nd grade (Juniors) Science course students on Monday May 29th. Our lecturer was Prof. Ken Urano from Shimane Medical School and he talked about “Research Ethics and point of view for research”. Based on this lecture we hope the students will be more active and work on their research activity, grow and contribute to society.

GSC(Global Science Campus)

Four of our students participated in Global Science Campus  Hop Stage in Hiroshima Univerisity on Sun. May 28th. This project has been established to educate future global specialist in science technology and organized by national Reserch and Development. About 240 enthusiastic students on science research listened to two lectures “Science Literacy” and “Reserach Ethics” We hope our participated students to work together with students from all over Japan and move on to next stage and become leader of science technology in near future.   

Santa Clara Exchange Students

Feb. June 13 to 14th, we welcomed 2 exchange students from Snata Clara with Santa Clara Sister City Association, President couple and vice president.  Students who attended the Santa Clara Oversea Trip welcomed the students and greeted each other and went back to the class room.
